Rates
Valley Energy rates are comprised of two significant components – basic service charge and gas cost rate. Basic Service Charges recover the expenses to improve, operate and maintain the pipelines and facilities that are necessary to deliver natural gas to the meter as well as all administrative and clerical functions necessary to operate the Company. Gas Cost Rate is the amount billed for the projected gas supply costs. This is a direct-pass through. Valley Energy makes no profit on your natural gas supply costs.
Gas Cost Rates
PENNSYLVANIA CUSTOMERS – Each fall, Valley Energy files for gas cost rate changes based primarily on the wholesale cost of natural gas. The rate change takes into account the current cost of gas minus the over collection (or under collection) of the cost of gas purchased for the previous twelve (12) month period, divided by the projected cost of gas to be billed for the next year. Refer to Rider “A” in the PA Gas Tariff for a complete computation and application of the gas cost rate.
NEW YORK CUSTOMERS – The gas cost charge reflects the monthly charges (up or down) in the company’s actual cost to purchase gas. Refer to Gas Adjustment Charge (GAC) for the adjustment rates in accordance with the cost of purchased gas.
